Hiya, I'm back again with some more newbie questions. I'll just paste what I wrote in the PG forums as I can't find a better way to word it ;)

Hi everyone.

I've been practicing parkour on and off over the last seven days as a total beginner, but I've just remembered something; I'm the only bridesmaid for a wedding coming up in just over a month and I can't afford to have scrapes and bruises showing up!

I don't want to take a month out and end this enthusiasm that I've got, so I was wondering if there were any good exercises that I could practice in the meantime so I can keep my fitness high. Since I've started this, being indoors has become really boring :haha

I'd like to work on my arms and legs ideally. As I'm new I've been trying cat leaps (I think), quadrapedies, wall climbs and balancing. I tried to do a lazy vault (I can't quite get both feet over smoothly yet) but I ended up catching my back leg and flipping over onto my head, so my confidence is a little shot for the time being. I assume I need find exercises for my legs for that , and also my arms as if I'm hanging from a wall I find it too difficult to pull myself up unless it's already at my waist height.

Apologies for the long post. I know that a lot of this is going to come with practice, but whilst I can't practice I still want to help myself and bolster my confidence. I don't know too many fitness terms or exercises, so any advice would help me out a lot.

Thank you very much in advance :)

If you've got any tips they'd be really helpful, as if I get caught with anymore bruises I think my aunt's going to throttle me XD Thankies
Practice, practice and practice some more.

In my opinion Just do parkour and keep at a steady pace :) Or cat crawl that helps alot.. I Love cat crawling I think it does every muscle in the body, I Also do lots of jogging :) (y) Just general exersise along with conditioning and training should do the trick :) Just be carefull with training :)
In Parkour You train. You train untill your muscles burn and your veins pump battery acid......... And then you train some more.

Oh yes, I definitely feel it after I do those crawls ^_^

In that case, Il'l keep it up and try to take it easy then maybe change the parkour:exercise ratio closer to the date. Thanks a lot (y)
Practice, practice and practice some more.

you should probably be alright if you just continue to do movements that are well within your ability level but if you are really worried then cat crawls, climb ups, precisions or any other basic movement along those lines should help

Cat crawling is fantastic, especially up and down stairs (Thanks, Sonny!) that really stresses all your muscles to work in complete sync, and you can really feel it, it's also great for keeping focused.

Leg strength, besides conditioning, low level and even ground level precision jumps are geat. But remember, it's not about distance or height, it's all about accuracy: 'I'm going to jump from here, and I'm going to land there, and stop.'. That's something I can't do fantastically yet, and my landings need work too.

Also indoors, if you have a lot of space, carpeted, and don't have downstairs neighbours, you can practise basic rolls, something that's pretty fundamental to PK as a safety measure, you'll need it, so it's good to get that rolling (Har, har, har.) Just remember when you begin to roll, don't throw yourself at the ground, you'll hurt yourself. Just leg your legs and then body ciollapse as if taking in a shock from a jump then shift your body weight to one of your shoulders. It's prefeence but it's usually your right. See which works best for you.
I'm new to PK. Be kind =P
